We are now inviting community groups and local organisations to submit an Expression of Interest for small grants for Summer 2026 projects.

Community Project Fund Toggle accordion
Grants of between £200 - £2000 for Community Projects to help make our District more inclusive, accessible, and connected.
Early Round - Summer 2026 projects - Application window from 21st May - 7th June
ROUND 1 - Projects from September 2026 - March 2027- Application window from 8th June - 26th July
If you have an idea of a Summer Activity you’d like us to consider, please complete this short Expression of Interest form
If you meet the criteria, you will be invited to complete a full application form and will be sent a link to the form within 5 working days. Please note- invitation to complete a full application is not guarantee of funding.
Projects should support one of the following priorities:
- Improving accessible communication – ensuring information shared across the district can be understood and accessed by all communities.
- Reducing digital exclusion – supporting residents who don’t have access to digital devices, or who may struggle to use them confidently.
- Engaging children and young people – helping them feel involved, able to access services, and empowered to influence change.
- Building an Age Friendly District – creating opportunities for older residents to have a voice and take part in local services.
Communities 1st provide support and guidance to groups who are applying to St Albans City and District Community Project Fund. You are encouraged to take up this service to support you with the formulation of your project and the application.

Partnership with Communities 1st
The Council part-funds Communities 1st to assist with providing information and guidance concerning a wide range of grant funding available to local voluntary and community groups (not grants for individuals). Communities 1st is a Membership organisation, details of membership and the types of funding advice available can be found on their website http://www.communities1st.org.uk
