Local Plan timetable
The government has published guidance that requires all local authorities to adjust the way they prepare Local Plans. This means we’ve had to review and replace our original plan making timetable (known as the Local Development Scheme) to ensure we meet the new legal requirements.
Work is already underway and progress has already been made. As a result of the new national guidance, our overall timetable will aim for adoption of the plan by April 2029.
The new timetable formally replaces our Local Development Scheme. Below is the current timetable for preparing the new St Albans Local Plan 2029, which will cover the administrative area of St Albans City & District. This timetable may be updated as the Plan progresses.
This timetable takes effect from 25 June 2026.
