Fees for planning applications

Fees for planning applications are set by the Government and apply nationally to all applications in England.

New planning fees coming 1 April 2026 - all statutory fees will increase by 3.8% in line with CPI - Applicants are reminded the new fees will be applied to any submissions received from 1 April 2026 onwards. Please view updated fee details here.

Fees must be submitted with your application in order for us to register it. To avoid delays, you can Pay Online. Alternatively, you can send us a cheque made payable to St Albans District Council.

Postal or paper applications

Planning applications submitted by post attract a further charge of £53.33 plus VAT which must be paid before an application can be processed. Please pay online at https://www.stalbans.gov.uk/pay-online-planning.
